NAFCC Accreditation

The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) sponsors national accreditation designed specifically for family child care programs.  Many professionals have an accreditation process to identify exemplary practices in that field.  Family child care programs who wish to be recognized by a national standard as a quality program for children can become a candidate and achieve NAFCC accreditation.

NAFCC Accreditation Program and Support

Beginning with an introductory course,  Linda will familiarize family child care providers to the benefits, process, and requirements of accreditation.  She will guide educators through self-reflection to determine possible program improvements and action plans.  As the family child care educators officially become accreditation “candidates,” they will receive 1:1 or group coaching to guide them through the Self-Study Step of accreditation.  Linda will support family child care educators to develop the quality, skills, and confidence for a successful Application Step and Observation Visit, resulting in their own NAFCC Accreditation.

Linda’s Experience with NAFCC Accreditation

As a past member of the NAFCC Accreditation Council and an approved Observer for accreditation, Linda Schumacher has a comprehensive understanding of the process and standards of NAFCC Accreditation.  Linda has facilitated numerous accreditation projects around Massachusetts resulting in more quality family child care and more accredited child care programs in those communities.  Her program was awarded the NAFCC Award for Excellence as an Accreditation Facilitation Project at the NAFCC 2013 Annual Conference.   Linda helped create the certification course that NAFCC offers annual to agencies and trainers who wish to lead accreditation projects. Linda has also been active on the teams which periodically review and revise the NAFCC Accreditation Quality Standards, assuring the standards continue to represent the highest national standards for family child care.
